IN MY HANDS

FALLING INTO PLACE

I'm reading the first great hero myth of the human race, Inanna...Queen of Heaven and Earth. A Sumerian epic tale written 2000 years before the bible. I am completley entralled with it. Then I got excited when I discovered that EAR and WISDOM in Sumerian are the same. But mind is what is meant. So instead of saying I should set my 'mind ' on something, I would say I should set my 'ear" on something..."like a donkey that sets its ear at a particular sound."

So, a little recap...

PAH means water in Shoshone

EAR means WISDOM/MIND in Sumerian.

I knew that I came up with those names for a reason...I wasn't just pulling a rabbit out of a hat...even if I was, so what. Things happen for a reason.

A GREAT HONOR

ASC's Aunt, Nancy Farmer, a successful, respected, prestigious prize winning auther, dedicated her latest book CLEVER ALI to our son Bailey. We are very grateful and know that he will cherish that throughout his life.

Cell Phone Video's: After our mini PAH OTL, we started getting questions about what are the best cell phone camcorders. If you want the best quality, look for a phone that records in MPEG 4 format, this is the best video compression technology out. If it is in your budget the N series of phones from Nokia are the best, these phones are actually designed with filmmakers in mind. These phones shoot MPEG 4 at a resolution of 720x480. The phone has a low end version of Adobe Premier so you can edit your film in camera before you put it into your computer. What I recommend: Any newer Samsung phone is the best quality for your dollar. The "Duality of Chachi" cell phone piece was shot on a Samsung SGH-T619. It shoots in MPEG4 format at a resolution of 176x144. I recently saw that you could get this phone for 19 dollars. But it's all about the export. Once you have got your footage into your editing software you need to tweak the setting according to the size and resolution of the clip. Some of the more basic editing software do not have as many choices for exporting. If you have Final Cut Pro you can get some pretty good results. To answer a question from Suzanne about Live Type and Motion templates. If you do a google search you can find some sites where people have made some, but they tend to be cheesy. Take this link for a better result http://www.livetypecentral.com/. As far as Motion; Motion is basically a program where you build your own templates with motion graphics.

FORGIVE ME, LOYAL EARS FANS...

I'm posting this video here on my blog for the OTL community. They dared me to do some ridiculous things, because I wouldn't answer some very ridiculous questions. I did this TRUTH OR DARE stunt to promote Red Dog, to promote CRC, and basically to get more traffic here at my beloved EARSXXI. I want people to see what we are doing with global creativity and digital empowerment. I feel like a fool for doing this, but I always try to keep my word. And, there are a few good laughs.

CRC PRESENTS

Meet Susan Church. Susan and Peter, her husband, with the help of their two boys, Andrew and James, run the Keddy Ranch in northern Nevada. It's one of the oldest ranches in the area. Susan is part of the Glazer famly, a very respected ranching family in the area. Her father taught her to weld. She fixes all the machines the ranch depends on to stay in business. She also uses her welding ability to make art. She is a member of the Wild Women Artists. For the next few wednesdays, I am going to showcase their work and creative process. They are a great group of ladies.

Apple Photo Booth Fun.

Video Editing for the ABOVE average Jo and Jane:

Recently due to a power surge my Power Mac G5 system got fried, and bad. After working with PC's at PAHFest Elko, I decided to look into the price difference in editing systems, windows based systems vs. Apple.

The PC that everyone seems to by hyping is Dell's XPS 710 HZC, this machine is very fast. The base line computer configured to the recommended specs for video editing is $5,519.00. This includes 4 Gigs of memory, which is the key ingredient for a good system, but you cannot put more than 4. This is rather expensive and Windows based editing software, unless you pay a lot, is not that great.

Sony is coming out with the VAIO RM HD Video Editing System. This system is cost friendly, starting out at $3,500. It has Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT graphics and a terabyte of storage. It does not say how much memory in can hold but 2 GB's in not that much. This system will come with Adobe Premier editing software, which is confusing because Sony has software "Sony Vegas".

On to Apple and why I keep mentioning memory. The Mac Pro G5 is the best machine out there, period. The base line computer starts at $3,298 but to get it to baseline HD editing specs comes in at just under $5,000. This machine however can hold up to 3 terabytes of storage and can hold up to 16 GB's of memory. If you can afford it 16 GB's of memory will make your machine scream. In order to "pimp" your Mac out however you will have to part with $15,000. The best thing about Apple is the Final Cut Pro editing software; it beats any other prosumer application out there.

If you are a young filmmaker and want a good baseline machine, I recommend a G5. You can slowly build your machine to the specs you want and don't have to spend a lot right away. Also for the simple reason that the software is far superior.

A final note:

It is not the machine that makes your vision come alive it is you. You should use whatever tools you have at your disposal to create. Never let your vision be dependent on technology.

HALF-BAKED ORIN?

I think I've just been warned by one of my readers on OTL to take head to not to become a half-baked Orin from "The Neverending Story". I am seriously intrigued. I did a little researching on Orin and I have to say some it did resonate with me. I truly don't want to become a half-baked Orin.

Sanaya: Orin is a nonphysical entity that I connect with through conscious channeling. I experience Orin as a being of great love, wisdom, and compassion. He never tells people what to do or how to live their lives. When asked, Orin will offer suggestions and ideas to assist people in seeing more choices. He has a constant message: that the universe is friendly, that it is unlimited in its abundance, that everything is happening perfectly for our good although we may not always understand why, and that we can choose to grow through joy rather than through struggle. Orin encourages you to accept only the ideas presented in the books and courses that seem true to the deepest part of your being, and to set aside any that do not.

Orin tells me he is a Being of Light. He says he is working with us at this time because humanity is going through a major transition and awakening. Orin has lived an earth life and is aware of the many challenges of living on the earth plane. He says that he now "lives" on the soul plane and in even higher realms. One of his purposes is to serve humanity.

Part of his service is to offer people a path of spiritual growth and to assist people in reaching their higher self, soul, and spirit. Orin has an important message about the path he is offering/ Read an overview of all his courses, how they fit together, and information that may assist you in choosing what courses you want to work with. Included in this link is information about what is your higher self, what is your soul, and what is your Divine Self, and the path to Self Realization that Orin is offering.

He tells me he is here to help people find their spiritual power, open their hearts, and create more happiness and peace in their lives. His work is to assist people in transforming their emotions and personalities, so that they can evolve to a higher consciousness during these transformative times.

I am in a relaxed, yet alert state of awareness when I bring Orin's messages through me. I am fully present and aware of both my own thoughts and his. When Orin is with me, I do not feel as if I am in a trance state; my voice does not change, nor do I lose consciousness. Orin says he communicates with me through a form of higher telepathy. He impresses my soul and higher mind with messages that are then received into my conscious awareness. Orin says that although his energy and light are available to any who call upon him, he will not bring messages and information through other channels until after my lifetime.

Orin's words express only a fraction of what I am experiencing. There is a richness of feelings, pictures, and illumination transmitted with them that is beyond description. I feel his contact as if I have expanded into a world of light and joy. It is as if through Orin I can experience a world of increased understanding, greater awareness, and more compassion and love. The ability to reach this state of awareness is an ability that everyone possesses. It is a matter of listening, opening, and allowing yourself to expand beyond the "you" that you know as your normal awareness.

Channeling involves letting your identity grow into one that includes a more expansive perspective. Many of you experience this when you are doing work you love and feel clearer, wiser, and more inspired than in your normal state of awareness. Some call this expanded state channeling, inspiration, creative thinking, intuitive insight, or expanded awareness. If you are interested in learning to channel, you may want to read "How to tell if you are ready to channel" to determine if channeling might be your next step. Orin and DaBen's book Opening to Channel will teach you skills to allow you to channel a guide or your higher self.

Orin says that everyone drawn to his work is a teacher, leader, and healer, even if they are not yet aware of it. He says he is reaching those of you who are on the leading edge of the new consciousness that is coming, working with you to assist you in discovering more of your life purpose and in accomplishing what you came to earth to do.

Through his journeys and books, Orin wants to assist you in making a connection to your soul and higher self, in getting your work out to the world, and in creating abundance. Orin works with you through his many journeys to assist you in joining with your higher self and soul to reprogram your subconscious to put in new, more positive beliefs and thoughts so you can create the reality you want. Orin joins with DaBen to offer you the light body course to assist you in aligning with the new energies coming, in taking your next evolutionary steps, and to empower you to fulfill your higher purpose of becoming a more perfect light. Orin's work is part of the timeless wisdom. He teaches you the mystery school teachings in his Millennium journeys and the Soul Love book.

Orin is aware of every soul that reaches him through his words, either spoken or written. His light is always available to those who have made contact with him. As you read his books or listen to the journeys, he will join his energy with yours to assist you in unfolding your potential and living the life you want if you ask him to do so and open to receive the light he will send you.

CRC PRESENTS

Meet GET DOWN. He's a tough guy, not someone you would want to upset, but I like him because he's honest, hardworking, real and has lived through many a battle. I modeled Duncan after GET DOWN In our MACBETH screenplay which is centered around bikers. Anyhow, he is a master leather craftsman. He made the Biker Cat's riding satchel. Enjoy

Shot & Edited by Damian Montoya with Mr. Slipery playing backup.

BLACK ELK SPEAKS

"I could see that the Wasichus did not care for each other the way our people did before the nation's hoop was broken. They would take everything from each other if they could, and so there were some who had more of everything than they could use, while crowds of people had nothing at all and maybe were starving. They had forgotten that the earth was their mother."

Come on, people...we have to turn this around.

APPLE PHOTO BOOTH FUN

I must reiterate that I see technology as just being a tool, not a necessity like food. Though one day I can envision computer chips being made out of organic material and perhaps, if the "haves" and "have nots" continue to balkanize the way it has been going, the "have nots" will be attacking the "haves" just to eat their technology. Yes, we must stay on top of the technology, be in charge of it, share it, make it the the great communicator, bringing us all together with creativity and compassion, a world where everybody counts and has a voice no matter what life path they are on. Hence, the importance of PAH (water).

BELOW ARE NOTES FROM THE DIGIPOSTLE DURING PAHFEST:ELKO. I TRULY RELY ON HIM TO KEEP THE MACHINE RUNNING.

PAHFest ELKO PC VS MAC

Out of our comfort zone: EDITING WITH A PC

During PAH Fest Elko, the EARSXXI PAH POSSE was subject to using Windows and Windows based software. Now most people find that learning brand new software is difficult, stressful, and somewhat annoying. The DigiVangelist squad however takes this challenge day in and day out. The mission this time was learning Adobe Premiere Pro editing software to cut the six-minute films. The program was easy enough to navigate through, and had the same basic tools as Final Cut Pro. The transitions and effects tools however were difficult to tweak once applied. The text application left much to be desired and the overall work flow felt lumbering and choppy. The most disappointing feature was there is no parallel program to create a DVD of your final project, such as DVD Studio Pro that works with Final Cut. This left us with the daunting task of finding the best compression to convert the files for iDVD on Mac. A surprising plus however was that you could export as a Flash File which is needed to upload on the web; this actually saved us a lot of time. Overall the program gets 2 1/2 stars. If you have to use a PC for editing, try using AVID Express.

BLUETOOTH: CELL PHONE SHORTS

Transferring clips from the cell phones to the Mac via Bluetooth proved to be the easiest obstacle to overcome. The Mac instantly picked up the device….except the Treo phones? Why, because they were running windows vista. Now we could have spent the time to figure out how to link everything to the pc but time was of the essence and windows had already proved to be a hindrance.

Logitech Webcam: WEBCAM ART

Once again the Logitech Webcam proved it's self by being easy to use and highly entertaining just make sure you are in a well lit room that is quiet.

Random acts of compatibility:

The DigiVangelist travels with many different types of equipment; this makes it easy to misplace cords, chargers, etc. The card reader for the Sony Cyber Shot MPEG4 camcorder went missing, which is what the CRC Blogs are shot on. Digging through the equipment trying to find anything else Sony we came across an early generation PSP and a Sony digital still camera. The still camera read the card and the still photos but none of the video files. The PSP read the card and read the files but could not play the video files, but the information was there. Now all we had to do was get the files on to the computer, but we did not have the "designated" Sony USB cord. We did however have the same USB cord from the Sanyo Xacti CG6 MPEG4 camcorder, so crisis averted.

EARS OFFICE BUFFA OPUS 17

A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DIVI!

It is my grandmother Louise Vogelsang's birthday today. She's 92. She has been one of my and my little families greatest supporters in so many ways. God bless her.

TONIGHTS PAHFEST ELKO SCREENING/CREATIVITY CELEBRATION

I am very impressed with the work that came out of Elko. The kids who created the piece "Life Without Bounds" were absolutely amazing. They acted, wrote and shot this piece and it truly comes from their experiences. Very emotional and intense. PAH wants to get more involved with the Boys & Girls Club. I felt a little bad that I couldn't give them the first prize, but the judges spoke and gave it to TEAM STRAUSS WALTZES AWAY, another wonderful piece about how a little American town suffers when an American company leaves for China. I worked very closely with the Church family on their HARD ASS ANGELS, so I am a little biased, but I am so very proud of having helped them create this poignant, very thoughtful tribute Don & Barbara who taught them how to survive the cold winters of Northern Nevada.

PAHFEST: ELKO took the CellPhone Art contest to a whole other mini-movie level. Their topic was "Heart of Gold" and the Elko community really stepped it up creatively.

Congratulations to Peter Church for winning the CellPhone Art contest with his Dancing & Diddling Brothel Wild Woman who has a heart of gold tribute.

Congratulations to Bobbie Roberts for winning the WebCam Art Contest with her very funny piece about Cinnamon the Ginger Bread Lady leaving a personal ad. One of my WebCam favorites was James Church's very sweet and funny love song to the girl he has a crush on.

Fernando Vargas received the Bugsy Kahn Award for his dedicated work with the Elko Boys & Girls Club. He gets that if you help just one person you have made a difference in the world. Like the very famous prior Bugsy Kahn recipient Doug Bocaz Larson (DBL), Mr. Vargas believes in PAH, helping people share the stories from their heart, building a global creativity community, fostering self worth and healing.

NEXT STOP: miniPAHFEST: OTL. STAY TUNED!
