Martini Talk
I'm sitting in a room, drinking gin martinis. I'm trying hard to invoke my muse...she's laughing at me..she can be a whacky one. The older I get the more I truly want to focus and accomplish. My muse is giggling at me. She's hard to settle. If I don't push her, incredible ideas grace me. If I push, there's nothing but giggling. I think I'll have another martini. You see, I want to do a new podcast before I leave for Germany. I'm stalling. I've only done three. I should've been able to do more. Actually, there's a lot of things I would like to complete before I go to Germany. I'm not great at routine. I'm pretty extreme. I do well in chaos.

THE OLD LONG BEACH DAYS
I just finished holding the same Minolta Autopack -8 D6 Super 8 camera that I had as boy back on Hackett Ave. My brother and I made a slew of movies when we were kids. I think he showed a portion of "Scroll of the Dragon" on Jay Leno show a long time ago where he was a young Roman prince arguing with his hypocrite father..."Let him bear the Palm, who earned it". Anyow, I loved this camera. And I am very happy I found it. SUPER 8 DAYS.mov

UPDATE: IN-HOUSE SELF PORTRAIT
Because of all the talented individuals that work for EARSXXI/PLASTERCITY, we are doing an in-house 1 minute self-portrait contest. They're due this Friday. The winner's portrait will showcase here on my Blog before I leave for Germany. The winner will also get one of my personal Director's Finder lenses that has served me loyally in the trenches. I figured I would test a PAH concept with the people that work with me. It helps to get the team on the same page sometimes.
PAH'S SUITING UP FOR GERMANY
In exactly a week I will be heading to Oldenburg to participate as one of their festival judges. I will also be representing PAH in our first Mini-PAHFEST. Let me tell ya, the old man has really got me working hard, but I don't mind because I love PAH's vision.

FRANKEN FRIAR SAVES THE DAY
We at EARSXXI have been busy getting our new offices set up, meeting a specific range of agents for company representation and arguing over baseball. If it wasn't for this odd mascot break dance between a friar and huge franken friar, I don't know what I would do with myself lately. The Microcosmic Circus is still alive and well in our daily lives and that is indeed as important as "Ecstatic Truth". . FrankenFriarSense.mov
ECSTATIC TRUTH
I was at the DGA a couple nights ago to watch Werner Herzog get the Vision Award from an independent film collective called Film Alliance. I'm still digesting what exactly Mr. Herzog meant by the importance of having "Ecstatic Truth" in one's work, but the term resonates with me...Orpheus looking for Eurydice in Plato's Cave. I'll sleep on that.

THE POND
Yesterday, I was told that someone said my father has always played the role of the Big Fish in the Small Pond. I also think they were indirectly suggesting that I am following in his footsteps. I thought about that for a moment, then I smiled. The most important lesson I have ever learned from my father the educator is that it is not about being the fish, it is about being the pond.

A LITTLE PROMOTION FOR MY TRAINER
Bruce Gilbert is doing a special Bow Wow fitness program every early Sunday morn. He's a class act with a big heart. So I am sharing his e-mail with the rest of you just in case you are interested. It's all about getting fit with your dog. "I would like to invite both of you to my church this Sunday. Exercise should be done religiously, so I am offering free classes to those who would like to attend. We are meeting at 7:30 a.m. this Sunday at the Fuller entrance to Runyon canyon. One block west of Labrea and one block north of Franklin. Parking can be a chore, so be sure to leave plenty of time. Please let me know if you want to come to preachin' and I will reserve a place(s) for you. Thank you both for your continued loyalty and hard work. You are a pleasure to train with." Best wishes, Bruce Gilbert www.balancedfitnessla.com (213)703-8554

BIG SHOW GRASS
BIC ran on the field tonight. Right fielder J.D. Drew signed his baseball. But, the most important thing was he grabbed a handful of Dodgers' grass when no one was looking. He put it away for safe keeping. You never know, one day it might be the lucky charm that helps him play on the same field as a big leaguer.

SUNDAY WISDOM
Where does discontent start? You are warm enough, but you shiver. You are fed, yet hunger gnaws you. You have been loved, but your yearning wanders in new fields. And to prod all these there's time, the Bastard Time. --John Steinbeck

Road Trip Day 18
I made some of the fresh Klamath salmon for my aunt and uncle over alder and apple wood. I soaked the salmon steaks in my Klamath fishing guide's favorite marinade, "Yoshido's Gourmet Sauce". I also laid the steaks on top of sliced sweet onions instead of directly on the grill. Delicious! I hadn't spent much time with my extended family lately and I enjoyed it. Both FC and EC really liked Biker Chef. We talked about doing an episode in the Napa Valley. Coppola wine, Napa Valley Oive Oil and old man Particelli's homemade grappa will all be major ingredients. I also spent some time with my Planet X colleague and his family. Stay tuned for some brand new creative, cutting edge concepts coming to a Wal-Mart near you. We left the Rubicon Estate in the late afternoon and started to make our way down the coast. Every town, big and small, had a mojor event going on: bike rallies, Christian Rock concerts, Irish games etc. All campsites, hotels and motels were full. We finally found a place in Steinbeck country just before midnight. So good night. Stuck.mov

CRC says... Paul Bertoli talks about the Bar 20 days and the Joshua tree. He still has that special invisible 70's head extension; hence the digital scratch upon taking his photo.
