A Little Prayer

There's been great floods throughout history. There's Great floods in all world myths and religions before and after Noah. In the big picture, we come from water and eventually go back to water over and over again. My heart goes out to all those affected by this latest hurricane. I love the South. I love the people...their graciousness and hospitality cannot be beat. I pray the South will come out of this flood with a renewed strength, energy and understanding and rise to become an inspiration to the rest of humanity.

SUNDAY WISDOM

Whether small or great, and no matter what the stage or grade of life, the Call rings up the curtain, always, on a mystery of transfiguration--a rite, or moment, of spiritual passage, which, when complete, amounts to a dying or a birth. The familiar life horizon has been outgrown; the old concepts, ideals, and emotional patterns no longer fit; the time for the passing of a threshold is at hand.

--Joseph Campbell

Forgive those that hurt you, protect yourself, and move on.

CODE NAME: IRONSIDE

She's been in her own medical hell lately. We all feel her pain. But, she's a dynamo, a fierce force. She doesn't like missing a beat, so she does the beating. Some say I have a big heart; hers is even bigger. We affectionately call her "Ironside" and "The Godmother". Nothing takes Ironside down, nothing. So hang in there partner, the light's around the corner.

THE MARQUEE

"Deadfall" is not my best work though it has it's moments. It was made under some strenuous circumstances. You're dealt a hand of cards and you play them as best you can. Rule No. 1: never make a very low budget film with a big name cast. You can't win. The greedy producers might, but the director, at least those trying to be honorable, rarely does. The punk rock band "Snot" does sing a song called "Deadfall" about it. That's cool. But, the real honor and treat for me with this film after 13 years was to be listed under the great Peckinpah. That was a blast.

IT'S LONELY TO DRAW A BEAD ON SOMETHING FEW CAN SEE

We're having a screening of the Biker Chef pilot at El Pinto's tonight for those that missed the earlier Kimo screening. The chefs, management and owners of this terrific restaurant were a tremendous help during the shooting of the BC pilot. We can't say thank you enough. I'm reposting this picture of myself, because I feel it is an accurate portrait of myself as a pirate and an explorer. For most of my life, my ideas were too far out for current times or too hard to grasp. I've had to do the dog and pony show to survive. Now that I've whole-heartedly embraced the digital arena I find that my ideas are not so out-of-this world. And, since my ideas are truly philanthropic, I am grateful. We can't reach LEVEL 2 unless there's a total Micro/Macro global understanding of who we are and where we are going.

TO ALL THE NAY SAYERS

Erik Estrada and Orson Welles were once in a room together. Erik, hot from "Chips", was trying to be friendly when he gave Mr. Welles, the genius behind "Citizen Kane", some advice on losing weight. He gave him one of those fresh juice and exercise spiels. Orson reponded with something like, "Mr. Estrada, I know I am fat and if I wanted to do something about it I could. But you, my friend, are an idiot and I'm afraid there's nothing you can do about that."

LUCHINI RULES!

I got my son a new pet friend. He's a ball python. He's still very young. He's very sweet and gentle. My son thinks he must be Italian so he named him "Luchini". They have a good relationship. Luchini will probably live for another 40 years. I look forward to future pictures of Bailey in college with his 3 foot long snake friend keeping him company.

I am a bit of a freak, but I love what I do. And though I may not always show the gratitude it is there deep in my heart. I wish to thank my little family, my force-of-nature business partner, my loyal friends, my hard working team at EarsXXI and PlasterCITY, my fellow Planet X visionaries and all the original and future Ears Ambassadors for helping and encouraging me to continue what I love to do.

STREET SMARTS

A very dear and wise business man I know gave me some advice last night. He has survived many an obstacle and I really respect him. He told me that my enemies will be the ones that take me to the top. I'm still pondering that, but I can see that he is probably right. I can't help it-- I enjoy a good fight.

BACK IN LA; MY MOTHER HAD A BIG 'O SMILE ON HER FACE

She's still in the hospital, but she was peppy. I brought her some ABQ artifacts, which she held with great reverence. I read her some of the very kind comments from the Ears Ambassadors. She really liked that. It made her feel that the world was a very small, closeknit place. I thank you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GET WELL WISHES

It is my mother's birthday today and unfortunately she is in a hospital. My mother is a gentle, sweet soul. And I am greatly saddened by this. Get well, Mom. I will be home soon. Your boys love you very much.
