Tuesday, May 30, 2006 RED AUDBLOG PHONE CONFESSION--NARCISSISM CRC says...
Monday, May 29, 2006 RESPECT AND LOVE ON MEMORIAL DAY To those who died in defending Human Dignity and Grace, thank you for making me a believer in the Human Spirit and giving me the courage to continue on, in my small way, no matter the obstacle.
The stress is mounting...the confusion is building...the clock is ticking...I feel very alone all of sudden...my dad once told me that we Coppola's had to persevere because we were good at making strawberries grow out of crap. Actually, I think we function best in utter chaos...that's when our art shines.
Sunday, May 28, 2006 Motion pictures are the art form of the 20th century, and one of the reasons is the fact that films are a slightly corrupted artform. They fit this century - they combine Art and business!
--Roger Corman The Digital Arena is the art form of the 21st century, and the reason for this is that it combines Art, Business, Global Communication and Human Empowerment in a very fast multi-tasking, technical world. And, in my mind, the skills one can learn with the Roger Corman low budget, grass roots motion picture making method can be more readily transfered to this digital arena than the more exclusive big Hollywood way. --CRC Friday, May 26, 2006 ![]() Great job, EARSXXI team. I love this poster. We're gonna pull of this years festival no matter what. Tonight, I have dinner with the great filmmaking/education pioneers Mr. and Mrs. Roger Corman. From the conversations I've been having with them, they are totally on board to help with the Creative Bomb PX-1 Launching. I'll keep you posted. Thursday, May 25, 2006 CRC says...

Sunday, May 21, 2006 I've been soul searching the past few days. Trying to find myself in the blur of my living art: the art of CRC interacting with my fellow man; the art of making people feel hopeful and worthy no matter who they are; and the art of feeling a tremendous love for humanity while trying to also watch my back. It's not easy, trust me. I decided to honor myself by putting the final words of the commencement speech I gave to the 2006 PAPA graduates as today's Sunday Wisdom. Obviously, I have now become a vlogging addict so you can hear and see me in action. I never prepare for a speech. I always talk from my heart.

Thursday, May 18, 2006 Tuesday, May 16, 2006 There will be a series of short mini-docs called ROAD TO PAH that will very soon be presented on the EARSXXI and PAHFEST webpages. Rose Carp, a TVI student, shot them and did a terrific job. Doug Bocaz-Larson's students at NMSU, Grants are now editing them out of tons of raw footage. They're also doing a terrific job.
Here's an example: Episode4.mov Monday, May 15, 2006 I'm in Chicago. My mom and most of her relatives are all from Chicago. I always feel a positive energy in Chicago--like someone is looking out for me in a "roll-up-your-sleeves" kind of way. I need that feeling right now, so I am happy to be here.

It's just a small start, but we tested out the PAH mentorship program with the students in Grants by making a little PAH trailer. It worked very well. I can see big things for PAH and it's mentorship program. I know my film teacher George Kuchar would be very proud as well as my uncle FFC for bringing Hollywood down to the people. NEWS ALERT! PAH NOW STANDS FOR PROJECT ACCESSIBLE HOLLYWOOD, NOT PROJECT ALTERNATIVE HOLLYWOOD. Wednesday, May 10, 2006 E3 pt. 2: What I learned today. Tuesday, May 09, 2006 ![]() I went to a couple of conferences today. I am interested in learning how the gaming world sees itself as a distributor of all digital content--films, music, games, internet. Others disagree, but I do see a blur between Big Blockbuster films and Big Blockbuster video games. They both are trying to make the entertainment experience they're offering as life-like as possible by going 3D to attract the consumer. I see filmmakers having to tell full length stories in digital puzzle pieces that can only be viewed in a multi-platform, multi-tasking environment. I see video game creators finding more and more ways to give their avatars more depth and emotional range so the player really feels something from the experience. Yes, there is going to be a total blur--it will be hard to distinguish between the two. This is going to happen even though many filmmakers and many video game creators hate to hear that. I see this as an opportunity for the independent filmmaker and the independent video game creator to work together to get their work out there and to help guide this brave new world from the grassroots people level. Anyhow, this is why I go to all these conventions, in order to network with fellow independents. Conference W5/The Rise of Mobile Entertainment: Upcoming trends and new opportunities in mobile games, music and TV. This conference wasn't about any of that. It basically was big wigs in the gaming business enjoying listening to themselves talk while saying stuff I already know. I saw no difference between their arrogance and Big Hollywood arrogance. I wasn't feeling good; I have a massive sunburn on my bald head and am mentally somewhat wobbily...so I don't like to speak because it usually comes out goofy. But, I got up to ask a question about this blur anyway and might it lead to alternative distribution for the independent artist working in both forms of this digital media. I was basically told to talk to Bill Gates or Sony. Figures. The one good thing that came out of this conference was a young independent video game programmer named Jeep Barnett came up to me to tell me about a company called Valve that has a web portal called STEAM that streams independent video games and are currently starting to offer independent films as well. Obviously, the independents truly do stick together and want to talk. Conference W4/ From Sputnik to Spore:Will Wright's new way of game creation. Listening to Mr. Wright talk about his game creations and what he puts into it was truly inspirational. He clearly is a genius and an artist in the gaming world. He realizes that he has effected generations of our youth and he takes that very seriously. Can his games make people feel, think, dream and at what resolution? Very interesting terms. He already sees a blur between daily life and video games, so he wants his games to help keep our imagination active and alive, not controlled and subdued. Tomorrow, I wil be going to Conference 3.3/Entertainment Business Summit: where the increased integration of music, film, TV is headed. I guess I am not the only one who see's this blur. Monday, May 08, 2006 WISDOM MANAGEMENT ON THE INFORMATION HIGHWAY We have massive amounts of information all around us...and very soon we will be virtually plugged into the information highway throughout our daily lives as more large competing corps use info as a sales tool. I remember having to go to the library a few days in a row to get the same info that my son can now get in a few minutes off the internet. That's pretty damn exciting. But does he retain it? I believe he does. But does he retain it in a meaningful way? I'm not so sure. We humans are slow learners, we have to be nurtured by our parents until we are 18. A lot of other animals get that done in less than a year, not to mention that a lot of parents should not even be parents yet. We need time to process the info in a meaningful manner. Basic human wisdom is diminishing around us, yet the information highway is getting wider and longer every second. It is harder to find ways to plug into our shared collective Human Spirit then to plug into the information highway. I feel we are most in touch with our shared Human Spirit when we are creating. This is why I promote and support using the digital arena as a tool to reignite the creative process for all people and to share it with all people, not just for consuming massive amounts of information. So, make your cell phone flicks or web cam shorts, show us how you are seeing, dreaming, and thinking about the world around you and share it on your blogs, myspaces, and web pages. Communicate and make community. Let the universal wisdom of our Human Spirit have an outlet through the creative process in this information highway age. It's the start of being reconnected while we are being totally plugged in.
Sunday, May 07, 2006 The least of things with a meaning is worth more in life than the greatest of things without it.
--Carl Jung I do not think there is any thrill that can go through the human heart like that felt by the inventor as he sees some creation of the brain unfolding to success... Such emotions make a man forget food, sleep, friends, love, everything. -- Nikola Tesla When I get these two truths to gel, I will feel bliss. Saturday, May 06, 2006 The younger folk in my office felt it was crucial that I had a myspace.com presence. If I remember correctly, they told me there's something like 7 million users or more. Anyhow, they made one for me. Thank you, Erin and Dr. Watson.
