SUNDAY WISDOM

Whatever mitigates the woes or increases the happiness of others, this is my criterion of goodness; and whatever injures society at large, or any individual in it, this is my measure of iniquity.

--Robert Burns

This is the quote I shared over haggis during the Burns celebration last friday night.

THE ORIGINAL ALL GOOD

I realized why I have a fixation with these words. A few months ago I was listening to Sinead over and over in my sunglasses headsets. I think it burned a little something on the surface of my brain.

A ROBERT BURNS QUOTE ON OUR BIRTHDAYS

SUNDAY WISDOM

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.

MISS OKLAHOMA GETS THE CROWN

This was my first beauty pageant. My only complaint...I think the Miss America host should have a bit more charisma. Anyhow, all the ladies were poised and lovely. Congratulations to all of them. There is much work yet for Ane Romero to do as Miss New Mexico 2005. EARSXXI stands behind her and her cause.

M.L.K. DAY

Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see.

A LITTLE SUNDAY PEACE ON THE SEA

SUNDAY WISDOM

It seems to me that, in every culture, I come across a chapter headed ''Wisdom.'' And then I know exactly what is going to follow: ''Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.''

FILM CLASS ABQ 06

Photo by NFP

Many students from this class and other FTTP students from around New Mexico will be working on Big Bad Voodoo Mama. I particularly liked this bunch. The Walrus closed his eyes to pick up their collective energy. Yes, they're definitely ready to rumble.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

...to the wise little lad of Tamales, California. I know that your loving father and mother will fill your day with magic and fun.

P.S.

BIC is working on some more skits for the two of you to do. I think one of them is called, "The Cucumber".

SUNDAY WISDOM

DESIDERATA

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all people.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to all even to the dull and ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and agressive people, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself to others you will become vain and bitter;
there will always be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the chnaging fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.

But let not this blind you to the virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself especially do not feign affection.

Neither be cynical about love;
in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it as as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with imaginings.

Many years are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars;
you have the right to be here,
and whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

BIG BAD VOODOO MAMA UPDATE

I spent two days in Grants, New Mexico working on the shooting script. I also took some meetings at the UNM branch. What a great group of people...smart, colorful, hopeful and passionate. I truly love New Mexico and its people. They really understand the importance of PAH and how works with their own very viable programs. I was able to scout some locations for BBVM as well. I have a feeling Grants & San Rafael will prove to be the prefect launch pad for the Pah program. We already have other Pah-flicks ready in the hopper for all the other New Mexican counties Nick and I visited on behalf of PAH. So lets get cracking. We have some people to train, new pro-consumer digital eqiupment to test on the field and some Pah-flicks to make.

CONFESSION

There are very few things in life that actually scare me. A good friend of mine discovered my little secret. I have a serious problem with 20's style big nosed mouse dolls made out of an inner-tube with one large red hand and one small, sitting up in a violin case. He felt it was necessary for me to face my deep fear, so he recently called for an intervention of family and friends to help me cope with this crippling fear. I told him I was ready to face the truth. I even bought a hi-beam flashlight to illuminate the mouse fiend as I sat in the darkness all by myself. I wish to thank my dear friend...for I am now cured and ready to face anything. Bring it on.
