BBQ KING LOVES AMERICA

I'm a barbeque fanatic. I just discovered this place right in my own hometown on the corner of Sunset and Figueroa.

The place brought me back to my previous 4th of July heaven.

I like to blog and check out others' blogs out in the open. Here I'm in the middle of an orange grove. Now that I've been blogging I've been getting very nice comments as well as not so nice ones. That happens when you go public. I like this one especially, "you a hole, you suck, you're not cool. You don't even look like a biker". I might have to use that as lyrics for a heavy metal song in "Macbeth". I also got one about my excessive use of "ahs" and "ums" while I talk. Apparently, they were offended by that during my guest blog stint on Boing-Boing because somehow it diluted the mention of James Joyce and the Bloomsday festivities. I love James Joyce. So I'm terribly sorry for that. But that is a bit of pretentious stretch. And you know how I feel about pretention. Anyhow, after I was done blogging, I was able to find a sweet, ripe orange. Life was good.

Picts From The Road Pt. 3

America's first national park in Wyoming. Apparently, the Earth saved 3 Indian maidens from a giant bear by thrusting them up from the ground on this stone tower, then the white man labeled it the Devil's Tower.

Frozen mink is still the best crab bait used. The seals don't like it.

POST BC351 - PICTS FROM THE ROAD PT. 2

Zen on the bay.

This mural is one of the best attractions in Newport, Oregon.

When an octopus is angry it turns red. I guess this octopus was pissed at me.

I could hang on an old boat like this for months fishing. I would be happy with that.

I picked this little guy up in South Dakota. He's been keeping me company at the wheel ever since.

POST BC351--PICTS FROM THE ROAD PT. 1

My family and I are slowly making are way back to So Cal. We're taking a little R&R at some wonderful campsites along the coasts of Washington, Oregon and California. Though I'm much more of a desert and mountain man, the sea definitely fills me with a sense of longing. It beckons me to explore and journey on. And, for some unexplained reason, I need that feeling right now.

I tried to put myself in the head of an early pioneer travelling West from the East. I could see why they named this eerie, but beautiful place the "Badlands".

Crazy Horse, the Che Guevarra for the American Indians. The Crazy Horse Monument in South Dakota had a really good spiritual, calming effect on me. I felt really at peace there. Mt. Rushmore made me feel uncomfortable, tabloidish and unsure of myself. Why is that?
